I had a call from Ryan @ Macildowie; the agency last night about the job in Newark - Blueprint Gaming. They saw 8 people, including a company accountant & apparently I "blew them away" they loved the fact I was myself in the interview & they really want to see me again! (I'm actually blushing a bit typing this!) so, after chatting to Roo about it, we decided that I should try & go for it. We won't live in Kirkby forever, so we could move closer if needed & Ryan also said that the overseas travelling won't be as much as I thought, so I shouldn't worry about it. I'm going to see them again on Monday at 9am "for coffee" to meet a few more of the team & then I'll head off to start the temp job, that I may only need very short term! *fingers crossed*
As you can see... fun was had at the football last night! & on the way out, we saw Ray Trew! O.M.G.!

Well... it's been a while, so, time for an update!!
I've had an interview today at Blueprint Gaming (they're actually not far away from Jo!)... it went well, but, I'm not that comfortable with it. It's a company that produce software/games in the gambling market & they also distribute gaming machines. They seem to be a rapidly expanding company & they're on the up, but, it's a Finance manager (not actually managing anyone though!) & it's a stand alone role & whilst I would have support from the accountants, I dunno, it's just sounding a bit too stressy for me. I think I'd rather be closer to home & part of a team. It's potentially paying very handsomely though, but, money isn't everything. It will also entail travelling to Germany to get trained & potentially travelling there every 3 months or so & maybe even a visit to the states every year too!... perhaps that should excite me... but, it doesn't I'm afraid! I can't believe it myself! to be honest, it feels longer. Not working means you can do more in a day (not that I do hehe) so, what have we been up to?;
New iPhone Yup, I got me a 4g & she's a thing of beauty. I'm now selling my rubbish old phone on ebay & should cover most of the cost of the new one, so jobs a goodun! Jobs Well... I've now also been put forward for a job at Thorntons in Alfreton, Derby (about 20 minutes away) & I've also received a call about another job, but I declined as it was Doncaster way again, so too far. Things certainly seem to be looking up though! I've also got an interview! - it'll be either Wednesday or Thursday next week & it's the HJ Enthoven in Matlock role. I'll find out the date & time on Monday, again, I'll let you know :) Weight loss As soon as I moved up, the calorie counting started! (ish... actually started the Monday after I moved up & had a rather blow out Chinese & take away filled yumfest 1st lol!) I've already lost 10 lbs! (3 this week) Roo's very good at watching the calories & we've been doing a few walks. So far *touch wood* it's been rather easy, long may it continue to drop off! After nearly 2 weeks of being unemployed now I'm utterly ready for a new challenge! I've had a (little) bit of good news, so I thought I'd update you on my (un)employment status!
Firstly, if all else fails I have temp work lined up to start on 26th July until 1st October at Konika Minolta. They're relocating the entire finance department, so there's no chance of it being made permanent :( My CV's also gone off to HJ Enthoven & Sons - a lead recycling company in Matlock (about 40-50 minute drive from ours). It's an assistant accountant role & sounds exactly my kinda thing, so I've got my fingers crossed!, My CV went off to them & I've answered some questions too. The agency haven't heard anything today, so will be calling them tomorrow... Well... what a lovely sunny weekend that was :oD
It was cricket filled for us… we’ve been up near Sheffield on Saturday (Anston) & down in Lincoln today (Bracebridge Heath) with Roo’s cricket. They lost both games, but spending the day in the sun was dead relaxing. Oooh & I’ve read 120 pages of Lord Sunday already ! - yes… the cricket on Saturday wasn’t great hehe. As we finished so quickly, we called in at Pap on the way back & watched the 1st team play. What a fab evening… there must have been 70 odd people watching (mainly cos of the professional Phillip “Daffy” DeFreitas hehe – but wowzers can he hit a ball!) a couple of spritzers with friends in the balmy evening was just what the doctor ordered. Well, as this is my 1st ever blog, I should make sure there's something memorable & witty... oh well, lets see what happens! I've been living in Kirkby now for 1 whole week! & I am LOVING it! I think I’m about ½ way now on the box unpacking front & the job search seems to bubbling along. I’ve got a temp job lined up to start on 26th July for Konika Minolta for a couple of months, the pays not the best, but at least I have a fall back plan. House still isn’t rented either, but, I’m being a patient bunny there too! Having discovered that I have all the window keys for my house daaan saaff here (slightly) oop north… expect a padded envelope soon mum!
The healthy eating is going well too & have been going for walks near Roobear’s cricket club… next time we’ll take the Bear’s camera as the views are stunning (compared to the flat I’ve been used to anyways!). I'm goind to try & post some picies next time!... egahds ain't modern technology ace? :) Please all keep in touch… you can post comments against these posts & I’ll try & update as often as possible… you know me… rambler extraordinaire! |
