Grab you're cuppa, I'll take a wonderful trip down my festive memory lane...
Christmas eve & we awoke to a to an excited home. The Bear & I set off to the Axe for lunch to see the gawjus Emmie & lunch with Trinakins. Both were (as ever) on fab form. I miss them :(
A wee final shop later via ma & pa's & had a lovely suprise of seeing Nan & Wendy... Nan's 1st words to Roo (it was the 1st time she'd met him)... oooh... don't you look like Fraser?! (my cousin Wendy's husband) What do you think?...
And WHAT A DAY!
I think it may actually have been my most favorite ever. Fact.
You know it's a going to be an awesome day when you wake up to your nephew opening up his pressie like this...
I'd made my Jamie Oliver Soup the night before & helped Muz make his scrummy pecan tarts and get the Beef & Turkey sorted. Was hilarious watching him slowly realise that there was no way on earth they were both going to fit in the oven! A quick re-organisation later & the beef was in my car along with the veg & Hayley Pink's amazing waffle & white choc pudding to be chauffeured to mum & dad's!
I'm pleased to say we continued The Axe ritual & shared pressies & hugs with Emmie. I managed to pop in & see Jan, Graham & Nan too (who were babysitting the delightful Jeniffer & Robert - I don't think that lad ever stops smiling!) Great times!
After that We all descended on mum & dad's, everyone bringing their bits of the feast. I can't even begin to describe how fabulous it was... nieces & nephew's running round, opening pressies, sharing delight in their latest gifts. Music blaring away (dad of course!) conversations were jubilant & footie banter exchanged & the champagne & beer flowed. It went swimingly! My soup was a hit (most had seconds!) Murray's bird & beef were a taste sensation as were Roo's roasties & veg. Hayley's ham delicious & mum's cheesecake was.. well, it's mum's cheesecake! come on, that's heavenly!
The hours passed in seconds & before I knew it, it was boxing day & Roo & I were lunching in the Axe (I love that damn mini meat roast!) & then heading home, happily exhausted after a truly magical weekend.
New Years Eve... Jo & Sean's. Do I even need to say any more?
When we were greeted at the door by a gorgeous blond in roller skates screaming "SHARON!!!" I knew we were in for a great night!
And boy was it ever! great food, company (Jo has some wonderful friends) & Sean in Jojo's jeans! It was great to catch up & to see Georgie, Archie & Alfie again... it's been too damn long.
After Jo's delicious curry had been eaten, cider consumed, fireworks ooh'd & ahh'd over & 80's music danced to, we headed back home with happy hearts. Thank you Farrells :D
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas & New Year too. I for one am looking forward to what new adventures 2011 brings!
