Let's see... January. Usually fairly pants it has to be said; it even contains the worst day of the year! but mine was rather spesh it has to be said. It started with a lovely long weekend spent with Emmie & Frankster & mum & dad.
Arrived at Emmie's on Thursday for a Mary Kay makeup party (Emmie's wedding make up) & caught up with some fabulous girlie friends over wine, humus carrot sticks etc :) various bottles later I crashed on the sofa ready for Cambridge in the morning...
Emmie, her mum Jenny & I were on a mission; The mission to find THE DRESS! Cambridge greeted us with open arms as we "did" every shop we could think of! Em tried on loads of dresses including the stunning Jenny Packham (fwoar, how much?!) & whilst some nearly hit the mark, none screamed out Emmie. So a little deflated, but, we knew what we were looking for & that it was out there... somewhere...
So Emmie & I went for round 2... Peterborough. We found the wedding dress shop & made an appointment & then headed to Monsoon was our main target, but, they've stopped stocking wedding in store (like most stores) - only the internet now. I mean, why the hell would you buy a wedding dress online?! Anyways! back to the wedding dress shop! & there were a few that looked lovely, but still not "Emmie" enough. Thinking that we were out of luck, the assistant suddenly said "have you considered a bridesmaids dress?" they can do them in many colours & they're a lot cheaper... well... the rest is history! (not giving anything away so ner!)
Roo & I along with 2,700 other fans traveled to Sunderland's very impressive Stadium of Light where we made a team sitting in 6th place of the Premiership look average & beat them a convincing 2-1. With excitement we watched the 4th round balls get drawn... (finally) Notts were drawn out the bag, a home game!... but who were we playing? expecting a Torquay or Crawley Town we nearly shouted the house down when Manchester City were pulled out!
What. A. Game.
I will never EVER forget it. The atmosphere from the sell out crowd, hearing The Wheelbarrow Song passionately sung by 13,00 odd Notts fans, THE NEAL BISHOP HEADER and the way Notts played out of their skin there are no words! alas, we just couldn't keep hold of that win & Man City leveled in the 80th(ish) minute. This has not only earnt the club a lot of money, it means we earn a lot off the replay which is again on ITV1 (yes, Roo & I went home & ate a celebratory kebab watching the game again care of V+ :D
And so to Sunday. We have our tickets, our singing voices & our belief that we can do it again!
